Yukiko mother's father had a sister, Yukiko's Great-aunt. i'm GUESSING Yukiko is using her mother's side of the family since Edogawa is )perhaps? heh heh( not her maiden name. ;)

the Great-aunt had a daughter, which would make that daughter Yukiko's cousin twice removed. aka 2nd cousin.

that 2nd cousin had an uncle who is Yukiko's Great-aunt's BROTHER!

Yukiko's Grandfather is that BROTHER and Conan is that BROTHER/Grandfather's great-Grandson... which makes Conan... ;) Yukiko's son. ;)

see how circular the statement is? Yukiko is saying Conan is her son. :> which of course he is.

UNLESS! Yukiko's Grandfather ALSO had a BROTHER! alongside the SISTER who started this whole circular family tree diagram.

because if Conan is Yukiko's Great-Uncle's Great-grandson, Conan quite possibly should be the same age as Shinichi... unless Great Uncle's 'child' who is the parent to 'Conan' had Conan seriously late in their life. if you use the Great-Uncle, the genealogical tree goes off on a wild tangent.

Yeah!! I've always heard around that Yukiko was just saying he was her son in a very roundabout way, but I've never been able to work it out. I get it now tho!!! Honestly kinda genius and hilarious of Yukiko, at least she can say she never lied about that!

woah mindblown... i was bad at these... but she was indeed not lying at all!

the Japanese do love their Family Registry System... so knowing 'who's related to whom' is culturally... and biologically important. ;) you don't want to mistakenly 'ahem ahem' with a young lady/gentleman in your family tree. because they are a rather... densely populated country... ;) with... moderately ethnocentric leanings to 'ahem ahem' foreign relations ;) so their genepool is kinda narrow and shallow in spots... i'm not saying the whole country's a bunch of kissing cousins... but it is important to keep track of things like that to the Japanese.
